Some state lawmakers think more guns are the answer to school shootings. They would arm school employees – and visitors – with concealed weapons, despite opposition from the vast majority of parents and educators who understand such a plan is a recipe for disaster.
On Saturday, a coalition of Michigan labor unions and allied groups are organizing a teach-in to highlight the connection between the Labor Movement and Civil Rights. “Labor and Civil Rights: The Tie That Binds” will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Northwest Activity Center (18100 Meyers Rd., Detroit, 48235).
State Sen. Hoon-Yung Hopgood is hosting a townhall in Taylor on Tuesday, Feb. 27, regarding the recently introduced “TeA+chers for Michigan” legislation. These 22 bills include key pieces of legislation about preparing, attracting, and retaining Michigan’s best educators.
